Jargon-fr
De Mi caja de notas
jargon is a specific unobvious word, concept, or technology (like Webmention), re-use of a word to mean something other than its common meaning (like feed), or sometimes re-using a word as an acronym (like POSSE), or any abbreviation that requires developer knowledge or skills.
Loqi Nudge
Keywords in this list will trigger Loqi to nudge the conversation to the #indieweb-dev channel when too many jargon terms are spoken too frequently in the main channel.
This is a separate list from the pages in this category for two reasons:
- Some of these jargon terms in the category may cause false positives, such as "Bridgy" or "template"
- We may want to include terms that Loqi is looking for without creating a wiki page for them
Please add keywords to the section below. Keywords are matched without punctuation and ignoring case sensitivity. Please make these keywords links to wiki pages if appropriate. Loqi reloads from this list every 5 minutes.
You can see what jargon Loqi has seen recently in the channel here: https://loqi.me/jargon/

It's more descriptive than corporatespeak or buzzwords or jargon. Corporatespeak is dated; buzzword is autological, since it is arguably an example of what it describes; and jargon conflates stupid usages with specialist languages that are actually purposeful, like those of law or science or medicine

- "a nice thing about writing with less jargon is that if what I'm saying doesn't make sense, it's easy for readers to call me on it
if you use a lot of impenetrable jargon, people will often think the problem is with *them* instead of with your writing" @b0rk February 18, 2022

- "programmers are always posting like "worked on tracking down an issue with a Flurble deployment for twelve hours. the problem wasn't in Flurble at all - it was in the Gumbies install. It turns out if you install Gumbies 3.0 over Gumbies 2.7 and don't do a cache flush on all the client spiders they'll get stuck in the crystal maze." then you look up Gumbies and the site is one of those scroll scroll scroll types with one sentence per page, like "GUMBIES is a lean, expressive sharding sandcube for testing and deploying large scale Woodchips playgrounds. GUMBIES automates and streamlines away watersliding phases, meaning your team can get right to the chipping.See why Microsoft, OpenAI and Bloingo have embraced GUMBIES in their Woodchips workflows."and you get to the bottom and you're like I want this I guess but I still don't know what it is" @sc_griffith July 21, 2023
