• 811 : la bataille de Pliska opposant le khan bulgare Kroum à l'empereur byzantin Nicéphore I^er, se conclut par l'une des plus grandes défaites de l'empire byzantin.

• 920 : déroute d'une alliance chrétienne entre les royaumes de Navarre et de León, contre les musulmans, à Pampelune, lors de la bataille de Valdejunquera (es), durant la Reconquista.

XIV^e siècle

• 1139 :
• 1309 : le pape Clément V reconnaît l'élection de l'empereur germanique Henri VII comme roi des Romains, et lui promet le couronnement impérial pour la Chandeleur 1312.
